dramaturgy
I have been working as a freelance dramaturg with a focus on interdisciplinary, hybrid, and new media works under my own independent alias, crowlake, on contract through Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal, and through the XR development hub Something Magic. I hold a background in Theatre/Ethics, Communications, an MFA in Creative Writing through UBC (specializing in multi-genre writing) and am currently studying hybrid and interdisciplinary approaches to creative practice and pedagogy in an Interdisciplinary PhD through Concordia University. I have worked with dance, theatre and performance artists at various stages of their performance projects and am currently a researcher on a CCA funded project with Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal and potatoCakes_digital exploring the intersections and integrations of digital storytelling and dramaturgy and live performance.
My approach as a dramaturg is centered on poetry techniques, interdisciplinary collaboration and knowing, the possibilities and limits of technology, embodiment and the use of prompts and accountability structures that centre the agency, creativity and needs of the artist. As a neurodivergent artist, I am interested in neurodivergent forms of creative practice, dramaturgy and creativity and am always looking for new ways to collaborate with fellow neurodivergent creators.
If you have a project that you would like to collaborate on with a dramaturg, contact me at erinjlindsay@gmail.com or through the form below and we can talk!
I also offer shorter-term feedback on scripts and processes.
